Hornby Island is known for the quality and creativity of its construction work force. In 2014, HICEEC worked with Hornby Island Education Society, North Island College, ISLA, and the Hornby Island Athletic Association to bring the Red Seal Carpentry program to the island. 11 students partook in the program, and most are now gainfully employed at a time where our trades need new blood. One of the products of that course was ISLA's very first TinyHouse, built by the students, which HICEEC is also helping finance. Moving forward, a "Living Rural Conference" is being planned for September 2015. Contact us or talk to Katherine Ronan to find out more ~
